In an effort to restore the 2,000-foot-long landing that extends from Confederate Park to the foot of Beale Street, the city’s Riverfront Development Corp. has proposed a $6.86 million project featuring walkways, repairs to the surface, a stabilization wall and a base of stone revetment, or riprap.
But the proposal — the subject of a public comment period that ended last week — has generated a debate almost as rough and rocky as the landing itself.
