Big Idea Inc. plans to downsize staff

Big Idea Inc. plans to downsize staff

Big Idea Inc., the Franklin-based producers of VeggieTales, said it plans adjustments to its business, including downsizing staff. "It's basically related to the economic challenges," said Leslie Ferrell, the entertainment company's general manager.

Ferrell declined to say how many jobs would be cut, saying discussions with employees are still taking place. Some production jobs may move to a freelance basis, she said. The company has 30 employees.

Big Idea Inc. is a division under parent company Entertainment Rights. All of Entertainment Rights' divisions must make adjustments, Ferrell said. Big Idea also plans to cut its operating expenses and may move into a smaller Franklin office.
