Business briefs: Nashville Capital Network acquires new sponsors

Nashville Capital Network, an organization that helps young companies raise investment capital through angel investors, has landed the financial support of several new sponsors.
Decosimo Certified Public Accountants and Decosimo Corporate Finance have joined as underwriters. Also, the Nashville Health Care Council, Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain and W Squared have upgraded their existing sponsorships.

"I think these new sponsors recognize the uniqueness of Nashville Capital Network, the strength of our collaborative network and the track record we have established," said Sid Chambless, executive director. "This increased support will enable us to expand our entrepreneur advocacy programs, and in the process develop more promising investment opportunities for our network of angel investors."

Mike Cain, managing partner at Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain; Mike Costello, principal at Decosimo CPAs; and Shannon Farrington, principal and CEO of W Squared, will join the NCN board.

Since its launch in 2003, the Nashville Capital Network has helped 19 companies raise more than $70 million, about one-quarter of it directly from the group's angel investors, wealthy individuals willing to put money into start-up ideas. The group also provides companies with formal business plan feedback and advisory services.
