Middle Tennessee Electric says bills should drop in Nov.

Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corp. officials said the average customer's electric bill this November will be more than 15 percent lower than last year.
That's because the Tennessee Valley Authority, which provides power to MTEMC, has lowered its charges.

In Oct. 2008, the TVA raised its rates to a 30-year high, pushing the average electric bill in November to $153.88, according to MTEMC officials.

A customer who uses 1,500 kwh per month will pay $129.67 this month, according to MTEMC officials.

What's more, MTEMC officials say they don't plan on raising rates anytime soon.

"We have no plans to increase our rate during the coming fiscal year, which is from July through June," MTEMC spokesman Todd Palmer said.

MTEMC serves about 181,778 homes and businesses in Middle Tennessee, including most of Williamson County.
