Tate participates in Telecom World

Deborah Taylor Tate of Nashville took part in the 40th anniversary of the International Telecommunications Union 2009 Telecom World in Geneva last week.
The former federal communications commissioner moderated a cyber-security session in conjunction with the Geneva Security Forum titled "Managing Digital Identity: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly" with experts from private-sector cybersecurity entities.

Tate also participated in the World Telecom Women's Breakfast for Female World Leaders and the ITU Youth Forum. On Thursday, ITU Secretary-General Hamadoun Toure unveiled child online protection guidelines for policymakers, educators and families. Tate chaired the international steering committee, drafting the guidelines and launching a global initiative that plans events in numerous countries over the next year and provides tools and other information online.
