Youth soccer tournament a boon for Middle TN in 2011

Youth soccer teams from across the Southeast will flock to Murfreesboro in 2011 after the city was awarded the U.S. Youth Soccer Region 3 Championships at weekend regional soccer meetings in Baton Rouge, La.
"This is the biggest thing we've hosted in the city by far," said Mona Herring, vice president of the Rutherford County Convention and Visitors Bureau. She estimated the tournament will require about 10,000 hotel room nights.

The tournament, scheduled for June 16-22, 2011, is expected to bring 184-200 teams from 11 states. Games will be played at the $15 million Richard Siegel Soccer Complex.
